[Title] => More old songs from Luis Giraldo
[Summary] => My only problem with recording the old songs is that it lessens the chances of discovering new works that will be the oldies of the future. That is bad for the music business and there might come a time when we will run out of old to record. Besides, every cover version released means missing out on an original by somebody who has something important to say with his music. What if that somebody was another David Gates or Stevie Wonder and we never got to hear his songs.

Neither is his voice the best-sounding in the world. But his simple expressive singing gives me goosebumps and during times when a song emanates from his vocal chords, it seems like Josh Groban is the handsomest, sexiest guy in existence.

But Josh is anything but ordinary. He is in fact, extraordinarily gifted and is now enjoying the time of his life, thanks to his angelic baritone and disarming mien.

No longer are the famous operatic singers of our times of a certain venerable age. In fact, they seem to be getting younger and younger every year and to the shock of many classical music fans, they also lack opera experience. In the old days male singers were either boy sopranos or middle-aged tenors. The young adult males were not expected to shine because that was the time they were being trained to be better singers. Nowadays though, they just pop out from everywhere.

Only 21, he has sung with Celine Dion, toured with Sarah Brightman, and recorded with Barbra Streisand. He looks pretty enough to belong to a boy band but with his baritone voice, he sounds richer, deeper, and stronger than all boy bands put together. That blend of the soft and the sonorous induces the fantasy that one can be both boy toy and father figure, and may partly account for the popularity he is enjoying.
