[Title] => Luna’s painting now home
[Summary] => Thanks to the Government Service Insurance System, Juan Luna’s painting Parisian Life is now owned by a government institution. Luna’s paintings are all part of our cultural heritage and it would be tragic if in our day and age, Filipinos had to go abroad to see some of his paintings. There is not that much appreciation for them abroad. If foreigners bid for the ownership of some of Luna’s paintings, one can almost be sure that they are financial art speculators and not art connoisseurs.

Philippine history began with Ferdinand Magellan’s discovery of our islands. In one generation, the Spanish Empire gained more territory than the Roman Empire did in 500 years.
