BANGKOK (AP)  - Thailand's newest foreign minister has begun work the third man to hold the role in Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej's government

Saroj Chavanavirat, a retired career diplomat, took office yesterday after King Bhumibol Adulyadej approved his appointment, said Deputy Government Spokesman Nattawut Sai-Kua.

Saroj's previous positions included the ministry's top civil service post of permanent secretary, director-general of the department overseeing Southeast Asian affairs and ambassador to France.
