Northpoint Wind Power Corp., a subsidiary of NorthWind Power Development Corp., is pushing through with its 40-megawatt wind power project in Aparri, Cagayan.

The NorthWind Bangui Bay project is the first commercial wind power project in the entire ASEAN region. It is also the first of its kind to be connected to the Philippine main grid.

The Kyoto Protocol, which with Russia’s ratification will take effect in February 2005, is a 1997 agreement that seeks to limit climate-altering greenhouse gas emissions. The CDM, a flexible mechanism of the Protocol, allows industrialized countries to fulfill some of their greenhouse gas emission-reduction commitments through projects in the developing world.
