[Title] => Letter to the Editor Balance the views of the defense against that of the prosecution
[Summary] =>
Your issue August 9, 2006 carried the interview of the prosecutor in the case of SPO1 Marcial Ocampo, who has been accused of shooting to death Elpedio "Jojo" dela Victoria, citing "discrepancies in the testimonies of the policeman and other defense witnesses".
Though the local media never came out with a report favorable to said policeman, we are constrained to write in the hope that good conscience, which inheres in every man might somehow influence the publication hereof to balance the views of the defense against that of the prosecution.

[Title] => Odd
[Summary] => The Supreme Court asked government to explain the potential economic impact of implementing the expanded VAT law in the event the temporary restraining order is withdrawn.
That strikes me as rather odd.

[Title] => Opinion: Is it actionable as libel?
[Summary] => If you write that somebody is "a despicable human being" or "one of the worst elements of our society" or "incompetent" or "one of the bars shadier practitioners" or "a disgrace to the judiciary" or "a second rater" or "an idiot" or "a traitor" or "a son of a bitch" or "an incestuous drunk," will your statement be actionable as libel (assuming all other elements are present)?

[Title] => A bill that weakens our social and moral fabric
[Summary] => Like the House Bill 3773 or the Reproductive Health and Population Management Act, House Bill 4016 or the Divorce Bill tends to obfuscate. The author says that the bill is aimed at helping couples in the urban poor communities who encounter difficulties in their relationship and abandon their marriage and simply separate without going through the legal process because of the problem of producing huge fees for lawyers.

[Title] => Revolutionary King
[Summary] => As we celebrate today the Feast of Christ the King, let us once and for all erase from our minds and imagination the medieval image of Christ pompously seated on a throne, with a bejeweled crown on his head, a scepter of power in his hand, and dressed in flowing, expensive robes. More-over, let us seriously work toward setting aside the pictures and statues of Christ picturing Him in the same way.
