[Title] => GMA: RP should send 500 peacekeepers to Iraq
[Summary] => WASHINGTON (via PLDT) President Arroyo insisted Monday that the Philippines should send at least 500 Filipino policemen and soldiers, along with truck drivers and security guards, to help in the post-war reconstruction of Iraq.
The Presidents declaration is contrary to what was recommended by a task force she earlier created to determine the Philippine participation in Iraqs reconstruction.
The recommendation was to scale down the original 500-strong humanitarian and peacekeeping contingent to Iraq to just 175 because of budgetary constraints.

[Title] => A deceitful government / MLSA: Why the secrecy?
[Summary] => They say the devil is in the details. And right they are. It took this columnist sometime to get into the belly of the monster and what I see and smell scares the hell out of me. I am referring to the Meralco flapdoodle. When the Supreme Court about a week ago reversed the Court of Appeals and decreed Meralco had to reimburse the citizenry P28 billion in overcharges, I figured justice was on the right track. Now I am not so sure. What I see and what I smell is that the government even before the High Court rendered its verdict had meticulously planned a takeover of Meralco.
