The U.S. said Thursday it will deploy two more combat ships to Singapore in the next two years as part of America's commitment to deepening its military engagement in the Asia-Pacific region.

"We will take punitive action against those who continue to abuse the system," Ng Eng Hen, minister of state for education and manpower, told local media.
