[Title] => Exercises for the editorially minded
[Summary] => To my pleasant surprise, last week’s piece on what editors do drew a stream of positive responses — I never imagined that so many readers would find the thankless and dimly illuminated job of editing so fascinating — but my biggest surprise after the column came out was to realize that I’d already written not just one but two columns on editing, back in 2010.

[Title] => Feedback Time!
[Summary] => For a writer, no joy can be compared to receiving letters and e-mail from readers. Whether the comments are positive or negative, they are sure proof that he is being read.
I am one person who gets extra excited whenever I receive a word or two from readers. It is with great anticipation that I open my e-mail. Reading what people have to say is always an exciting, learning and illuminating experience.

[Title] => Nasty Resurfaces: ‘ Yours is a democrazy’
[Summary] => Just when I thought Nasty had become a voice from the past, he suddenly resurfaced and e-mailed me. I have gotten countless requests not to give him any press space. But how do you keep a broken valve from whistling sharply and squirting water without getting us all wet? Nasty, the "ex-Filipino," is irrepressible and, in fact, has some salient points that we must listen to.
