Every year fragrance fans await the next provocative move of Thierry Mugler. Last year he aged Angel, one of the best-selling perfumes of all time, like fine cognac to produce La Part des Anges, a fragrance of rare vintage on the skin. The year before that he created the Perfume coffret, a box of 15 scents inspired by the movie of the same name.

I was probably too young to wear perfume then, but even I had to join the bandwagon.

In 1992, perfumer Olivier Cresp created the Angel fragrance for French fashion house Thierry Mugler. It was so popular that it became in the ’90s what Poison was in the ’80s.

As a designer, he always sets the stage while creating modern-looking, if not futuristic, clothes. The fashion world has never been the same since Mugler emerged. Just think extreme and scandalous.

But hey, many celebrities wear his creations. The list includes supermodels Iman Bowie, Jerry Hall, Linda Evangelista, Kate Moss, Claudia Schiffer and Naomi Campbell and even actresses Darryl Hannah, Diana Ross and Sharon Stone.

This French designer is known for clothes that are based on body aesthetics: They should create elegance in a simple form and structure and add a defined shape to the body. So, the quest for clothes that fit perfectly now ends for both men and women. What a sigh of relief!

Who doesn’t, anyway? Fragrances have a lot of history behind them. There’s something supernatural about waters, elixirs, and vinegars from hundreds of years ago that had miraculous benefits for people. Not only do colognes and perfumes make us smell nice, they also have this distinct quality that brings back memories from the past. They evoke different things for different people. I grew up smelling different scents from my grandmother’s French perfumes, dad’s musky aftershave to my sister’s mild baby colognes.
