Tropical Storm Karen is forecast to hit the Gulf Coast between Louisiana and Florida over the weekend. Forecasters say the storm could be a hurricane when it makes landfall.

The country’s biggest group of sugar farmers was reacting to Favila’s earlier statement that he would support a proposal from Alfredo Yao, chairman of Zesto Corp., to import sugar directly.
