Napocor president Cyril del Callar, however, warned that while this arrangement may have a minimal impact on their financial position, it may lead to some problems in the long-run.

[Summary] => The Philippine Electricity Market Corp. (PEMC) expects the commercial operations of the wholesale electricity spot market (WESM) in Luzon to start in May this year as soon as the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) approves the spot market’s pricing mechanism.
PEMC president Lasse A. Holopainen said the WESM should start to give way to open access. The PEMC has been tasked to handle the WESM operations.
"WESM is a precondition for open access, a significant component of the ongoing restructuring and privatization of the power industry,"Holopainen said.

[Summary] => The Philippine Electricity Market Corp. (PEMC) expects to raise some P550 million this year from market transaction fees.
PEMC, the market operator for the wholesale electricity spot market (WESM) slated to begin commercial operations this quarter, will seek approval from the energy regulator to allow it to charge a one-time annual registration fee of P180,000 for all market participants.
The fees will also be imposed on participating power generators and other sellers in the spot market.
