[Title] => Divided - we will all fall
[Summary] => As we observe another Independence Day, it reminds me that over a century ago specifically in March 1897 Aguinaldo and Bonifacio were already quarrelling. Aguinaldo manipulated the rebel elite into agreeing to form a republic with him as president prompting Bonifacio to bolt and form a rival regime. Aguinaldo tracked down Bonifacio and condemned him to death through a kangaroo court. In May 1897, Bonifacio and his brother were executed in a Cavite forest. Consequently, the dispute had weakened Aguinaldos forces and ultimately strengthened the Spanish.

[Title] => GMA still wants 13-0 for PPC
[Summary] => President Arroyo is continuing her crusade for the administrations sweep of the senatorial race in May, saying a 13-0 victory for the People Power Coalition (PPC) was far from being an impossible dream.
The President, who personally made a pitch for each PPC candidate at a proclamation rally in Mandaluyong City Saturday night, denied having said that a sweep was unrealistic.

[Title] => Congress resumes regular session
[Summary] => Senators and congressmen resume their regular session today after a month-long Christmas break.
Still on top of their agenda is the proposed P715-billion 2001 national budget which they failed to approve during their five-day special session last week.
The budget is pending third-reading approval in the Senate. Last month, before the Christmas break, the House passed it on third and final reading.

[Title] => EDITORIAL - Not even a slap on the wrist
[Summary] => Just moments after Manuel Villar Jr. restored much of the people’s trust in the House of Representatives, another congressman once again made people wonder if legislators deserved to have the term "honorable" appended to their title. Apparently annoyed by the eruption of cheers and singing from the gallery after Villar announced President Estrada’s impeachment last Monday, pro-administration Rep. Jose Mari Gonzalez vented his ire on House sergeant-at-arms Bayani Fabic. Gonzalez, who represents the President’s hometown of San Juan, slapped the sergeant-at-arms.
