[Title] => Men who shop
[Summary] =>
Am I committing treachery to my kind by confessing to an inveterate urge to shop? We men are often taken to task by our mates for hating shopping, but I believe – I maintain – that it’s another of those myths that can’t stand closer scrutiny. At least in my case, it won’t.

[Title] => Sofa so good
[Summary] => One of life’s grandest luxuries has to be a good sofa. A sofa’s one of those things we tend to take for granted growing up – a place for slouching before the TV, a depository for stray potato chips and 25-centavo coins, a parking area for the family cat, a trampoline for the bunso, a pre-departure station for the chairbound lolo. It sits there in your living room, massive and impossibly sturdy, almost like a seventh or eighth family member who has seen and heard everything and yet says nothing back.

[Title] => My eager response
[Summary] => The past week being the end of the semester for most universities, I’ve been receiving the usual barrage of requests from students all over the archipelago – wherever people can send and get e-mail – asking for my help with their literature term papers, which just happen to be about something I’ve written (most often my novel, Killing Time in a Warm Place, or a short story like "In the Garden" or "Heartland").
