The Museo Parian sa Sugbu (a.k.a. the 1730 Jesuit House) recently organized a lecture titled “Reflections on the Suppression and Restoration of the Society of Jesus” at the City Sports Club, Cebu Business Park. The speaker was Fr. Rene Javellana SJ, who talked before 40 attendees about the different reasons why the Society of Jesus was suppressed by Pope Clement XIV in 1773, as well as the reasons for the order’s restoration by Pope Pius VII in 1814.
