SHARIFF AGUAK, Maguindanao — Impoverished Moro communities in Mindanao are now ready to participate in the international Islamic food market.


This was after representatives of foreign donor outfits, clerics and political leaders in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) launched the other day the Muslim Mindanao Halal Certification Board Inc. (MMHCBI), which is the last requisite for the entry of Moro entrepreneurs into the international Islamic food business.

Lawyer Oscar Sampulna, ARMM executive secretary, said allowing LGUs to be represented in the peace talks would give both panels a chance to hear the real sentiments of different sectors on the ancestral domain issue now being resolved by both sides.

COTABATO CITY — The revival last month of the almost forgotten trade routes linking Maguindanao to China has ushered in improvements in the business climate of the fledgling Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).


If documentations are completed within the month, entrepreneurs in Maguindanao will ship to Iran and other parts of the Middle East before yearend some 20 tons of halal dressed chicken under a livestock venture dubbed "Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines (BIMP) Poultry Program."
