[Title] => Prices of basic goods stable despite RVAT
[Summary] => The Department of Trade and Industry reported that despite full implementation of the Reformed Value Added Tax, prices of basic commodities in Cebu have remained stable.
Except for processed milk and coffee that increased by about 15 to 70 centavos, prices of other products remained the same.
DTI Cebu regulatory division chief Zaide Bation said their recent price and supply monitoring report shows no significant change in the price of commodities based on their monitoring report done a week ago.

[Title] => Retailers group warns of high prices of rice
[Summary] => A large rice retailers group warned the Arroyo administration yesterday of high rice prices should it push through with its policy of rice trade liberalization and its plan of privatizing the National Food Authority (NFA).
Edelyn Alpuente Loo, president of the 100,000-strong Grains Retailers Confederation, said in a statement that the policy of open rice liberalization "would push local market forces to the brink of destruction and would result in lesser farmer productivity."
