                    [Summary] =>

Last month, August 31 to be exact, I wrote a piece calling for a state of emergency to be declared in Metro Manila, allowing the President to exercise emergency powers that could deploy the military to deal with traffic.

Commuters are angry and disgusted at Transportation Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya’s arrogant statement that riding the metro rail transit is a “personal decision,” and that he will not go out of his way to convince people to ride since this is a free country anyway.

The PDIC already received an undisclosed number of bids last Aug. 15, and has scheduled a public bidding on Aug. 29.
