If our memory serves us right, the last focus on Filipino food in Jakarta was more than two decades ago when Cathay Pacific and Liberty Flour Mills, makers of Maya baking products, brought the winners of a cookfest to the Indonesian capital Jakarta. It was with the late culinary guru Nora Daza, who headed our delegation.
Filipino food recently took center stage again in Jakarta, when Philippine Airlines and the Department of Agriculture brought the Filipino Food Festival to the Satoo Restaurant in the city of Jakarta. Our younger daughter is a foodie, and is married to a British executive chef of the Ninety Nine chain in Jakarta. She often craves for Filipino food, thus she was one of those who trooped to the venue on its opening. Here is her account.
