Stressing that the channel is a favorite economic destination in the province, the Cebu Provincial Board is calling on two government agencies to strictly monitor the controversial oil exploration in Tañon Strait.

One of these entities, if chosen, will undertake the re-appraisal, development and production of crude oil found beneath the Malampaya gas cap in offshore northwest Palawan. 

The move is in line with the project’s Terms of Service issued by the DOE which allows PNOC to team up with interested parties for the said activities.

In a memo to brokers, the PSE said the suspension was due to Wellex’s failure to submit its annual report for 2003 and pay the basic and daily fines.

It was not the first time that trading of Wellex shares has been suspended. Last year, the company was also fined by the PSE for repeated failure to submit financial reports on time.
