                    [Title] => Start them young
                    [Summary] => When our culinary-inclined grandson started assisting his father (an executive chef) in his chores such as fetching and pouring water into the barbecue pit and regulating the fire, he was hardly four years old. Three years later he concocted his first chicken recipe. A year after, he surprised us with a full dinner (assisted by his father) at their Cairo home. This made us believe that young boys and girls, aged from 4 to 7 , tiny as they are, who show a promise of growing into good artists in the kitchen should be encouraged.

                    [Title] => The tiangge lifestyle
                    [Summary] => This is something that has successfully crept into all our lives. Call it tiangge, bazaar, weekend market, trade fair, they all operate under the same principle–sell everything from food and garments to small unique gadgets at prices much lower than anywhere else. Tiangges must have taken off from an old tradition in provincial palengkes where farmers bring their produce one day in a week, and this became the weekend market. Bazaars were held prior to seasonal events like Christmas, while trade fairs became the venues for exporting local products.
