In a statement, Rep. Prospero Pichay (Lakas, Surigao del Sur) said PGI had failed to award the drilling contract for the expansion of its steam fields to PNOC-Energy Development Corp. (PNOC-EDC) despite the state firm’s lowest bid and excellent track record.

                    [Summary] => CEBU CITY – The STI education services group is holding talks with 21 Japanese business conglomerates for a grant and the establishment of an information technology (IT) school in the Philippines.


The IT-based school will be located in the Philippines but all its graduates will be for exclusive recruitment by the Japanese firms. These firms, known as zaibatsus, are big business conglomerates with global reach.


Among them are Matsushita, Itochu, Mitsubishi, and Marubeni. The system is now being applied in Indonesia.

The MOA was signed Oct. 19 at the Marriot Hotel, People’s Republic of China with President  Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Microsoft chief executive Bill Gates witnessing the event.


PLDT president Manuel Pangilinan, Microsoft country manager Richard Francis and STI chairman Eusebio Tangco signed the accord for their respective companies.
