Inmates at the New Bilibid Prisons (NBP) would soon be glad to be at your service.


The Department of Justice has ordered officials at the national penitentiary to expand their livelihood programs for inmates by including automotive repair.


NBP public information chief Emmy Divina said the justice department wants to utilize inmates in helping boost the recovering economy of the country.

                    [Summary] => Three death convicts set to be executed next month have been given another 90-day reprieve by President Arroyo.


Emmy Divina, New Bilibid Prisons (NBP) public information chief, said they received the order from Mrs. Arroyo last Thursday.


However, Divina refused to name the convicts in accordance with Bureau of Corrections rules and regulations.


Divina said the cases and dates of execution of the convicts were not stated in Mrs. Arroyo’s order, but she said they were the same ones given reprieves last February and May.

Officials at the New Bilibid Prisons said  yesterday a lifting area similar to that is used at the airports would soon be set up.


The system, according to bureau of information office chief Emmy Divina, would be housed at the new building beside Gate 4.


Divina said the new security measure is part of their program to  prevent the smuggling of contraband to the prison colonies.
