[Title] => Letter to the editor - Let's shun Carabao English in our public schools
[Summary] => My daughter who handled an English class as a practicum teacher in Abellana National High School, 1st Semester 2006-2007, told me the following story:
Norman (not his real name), a graduating student, could not even write a simple declarative sentence much less understand basic English grammar. To make things worse, majority of Norman's classmates fared no better. She and the other practicum teachers have no idea how they passed the lower levels of the secondary education and became candidates for graduation.

[Title] => Letter to the Editor The politics of 'Sugbuhi'
[Summary] =>
Politics is the ability to mesmerize the voting public with all the means available to the politician. To the cynic our electoral process is like any gambling endeavor... winning is not the only thing, it's everything. That's why in our political arena you can seldom see a gracious loser. The increasing record of election protests in the Comelec in the aftermath of elections attest to this fact.

[Title] => Scrap national ID system
[Summary] => The arguments presented by Malacañang in favor of a nationwide ID system are highly suspect since what is offered, among other things, is the convenience for ID holders to transact business with all government agencies which on the face of it is effective management-wise. The question is, effective for whom?

[Title] => Letter to the Editor - Nation-building under a unified citizenry
[Summary] => Not too long ago the accepted philosophy for strength and progress of races and countries alike is unity: Strive for a unified goal, exercise a mission and vision that encompass the well-being of all constituents of a nation. In fact nation-building under a unified citizenry was and still is the preoccupation of our leaders since Manuel Quezon.
