In his twilight years, Decena continued to stay close to basketball, working out of an organization called Rings which was dedicated to produce athletes as Christian gentlemen.

Eddie was a widower. His wife was Nena Aragon and he left his children Luis "Louie," "Maritess" Mari Jose, Tiny Jr., "Chit" Rosario and Tryll Macalintal.
