Police said the shootout was triggered after a mobile patrol chanced upon two men who were robbing passengers of a jeepney along Baler and Roosevelt Avenue at about 11 p.m. last Friday evening.


The suspects, who were later identified as Leonardo De Vera, 33, and Dave Cruz, 24, had just divested passengers of their cell phones and valuables when lawmen accosted them.
