You could call today’s generation "crooked and perverse," just as Paul described his own generation in Philippians 2:15. Even Moses would have understood what Paul was talking about, for he said of Israel, "They have corrupted themselves; they are not His children, because of their blemish: a perverse and crooked generation" (Deuteronomy 32:5).

If you were to ask several people to draw a crooked line on  piece of paper, no two lines would be identical. There is a lesson in this: There are many ways to be crooked, but only one way to be straight.

                    [Summary] => We think of life as a journey and we are all travelers on its paths. I say ‘paths’ because not all of us travel the same road and not all of us see our way. Why? Many of us lose our way because we have chosen to take the crooked road. We prefer the crooked road. It seems better than the straight one. The crooked road has so many bends, so many nooks and crevices where we can stop our travel and hide or rest in pleasure. We get a false sense that the road we travel is short and pleasurable at every turn. If we choose the straight path, we are in full view of earth and sky.

Looking out the window of an airplane, you can see the winding paths of rivers below. Except for some man-made waterways, all rivers have one thing in common – they all are crooked. The reason is simple – they follow the path of least resistance. Rivers find their way around anything that blocks their flow because they take the easy way.
