[Title] => SMC income falls 4.4% to P6.5-B
[Summary] => Leading food and beverage firm San Miguel Corp. (SMC) earned four percent less in 2001 as against the past year due to the costs of two major acquisitions, but the addition of these new companies boosted its consolidated sales by significant 48 percent during the same period.
In a report to the Philippine Stock Exchange, SMC said the acquisitions and their resulting short-term dilutive effect trimmed the companys net income from P6.8 billion in 2002 to P6.5 billion last year.
