"There are only three things to determine regarding OFWs — their identity, their citizenship status, and their immigration status," said Tuason, who is in charge of overseas voting.
Tuason said a handful of Filipino voters abroad had registered, with less casting their ballots on election day.

[Summary] => The Supreme Court recently upheld the election last year of Leonardo Roman as governor of Bataan. The high tribunal voting 8-7, ruled that victory in a recall election does not count as a full term, thus Roman was validly elected in the 2001 gubernatorial elections where he received 97 percent of the votes cast.
The decision of the SC was a hard-fought and well-deserved victory for Roman, one of this year’s Most Outstanding Governors and recipient of Galing Pook Award of Excellence from Malacañang.

[Summary] => Four commissioners of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) disputed yesterday the claims of their chairman, Alfredo Benipayo, that he alone has the authority to approve official trips abroad.
Comelec commissioners Rufino Javier, Ralph Lantion, Mehol Sadain and Luzviminda Tancangco earlier asked the poll body’s resident auditor to conduct a special audit on foreign trips made by Benipayo and two other officials for consultations on the Absentee Voting Bill.
They claimed the trips were made without the proper travel authority from the commission en banc.
