                    [Title] => Danny the victim - SPORTING CHANCE by Joaquin M. Henson
                    [Summary] => Poor Danny Ildefonso.

Last Sunday, he quietly walked out of the Big Dome after being told he couldn’t march in the parade at the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) 27th season inaugurals. What a way to treat the league’s MVP last year.

Ildefonso couldn’t hold back his tears. Under league rules, a player without a contract is a free agent without a team. His rights are still held by San Miguel Beer but until he is signed to a contract, Ildefonso remains homeless.

Brown sends regrets

In a letter sent to PBA Commissioner Emilio Bernardino a few days ago, the 1985 MVP said: "I am deeply honored to be named as one of the top 25 players of all time. You cannot imagine how very special this means to me. [DatePublished] => 2000-04-09 00:00:00 [ColumnID] => 0 [Focus] => 1 [AuthorID] => 1804869 [AuthorName] => Joaquin M. Vintage Sports Chairman Carlos (Bobong) Velez yesterday appealed to losing bidder GMA-7 to accept the finality of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Board of Governors decision awarding the league's TV and radio rights for 2000-2002 in the spirit of sportsmanship.

The PBA Board held four marathon meetings in two weeks before deciding to award the rights to a consortium made up of Vintage, Viva Films, Argosy Partners and the International Management Group over GMA-7 on a vote of 6-2 with a single abstention last Dec.
