[Title] => Coming home to crime
[Summary] =>
Coming back from a two-week trip to Canada and the United States, I get home and all I read about are murders, carnappings and other crimes. The irony is I just came from a country in total shock over one of the biggest crimes in modern history. A few days before I left, a South Korean student went on a shooting rampage, killing 32 people at Virginia Tech before putting a bullet in his head.

[Title] => Are students still safe in campuses?
[Summary] =>
Recent news of violence involving students as victims have been quite disturbing, particularly to parents who view schools as a second home for their children and as a safe place of learning.
Last March 28, national and global television viewers were witnesses to the hostage-taking of a busload of 32 day-care center schoolchildren and two teachers by Jun Ducat, a day-care center owner who drove them in front of the Bonifacio Shrine near Manila City Hall to demand better housing and education for children. (Apparently, this is the second hostage-taking of Ducat.)
