LEGAZPI CITY — A human rights lawyer was killed in an ambush in Gubat, Albay while he was on his way home from a court hearing, police said. 


Senior Superintendent Joel Regondola, Sorsogon police director, said lawyer Gil Gujol, 50, was on board a van with his driver, Danilo France, en route to Sorsogon City when two men fired at him with caliber .45 pistols at about 10:30 a.m. in Barangay Cariedo, Gubat town. 


Gujol died from gunshot wounds in the head and chest while he was being rushed to the hospital. Gubat is about 19 kilometers from Sorsogon City.

                    [Summary] => LEGAZPI CITY — Police released another cartographic sketch of a possible suspect in the killing of former Bicol Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) Secretary Sotero Llamas who was gunned down May 29 in Barangay Tagas in Tabaco City.


Chief Superintendent Victor Barbo Boco, Bicol police regional director, showed the sketch prepared by a Criminal Investigation and Dectection Group (CIDG) artist based from accounts of two of the 15 persons who witnessed the shooting incident.

In Southern Mindano, at least 5,000 workers trooped to Davao City’s main thoroughfares demanding a P3,000 salary hike for government workers and a P125 across-the-board increase for other workers.


The protest march was participated in also by hundreds of banana plantation workers from as far as Compostela Valley in the north while bus-loads also came all the way from Davao del Sur.
