[Title] => TransCo mulls rate hike to recover rehab costs
[Summary] =>
The National Transmission Corp. (TransCo) is considering filing for a possible rate increase at the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) to recover the cost of rehabilitation of its facilities destroyed by the recent typhoons, a ranking company official said.
TransCo president Arthur Aguilar, however, said the rate hike which is expected to be filed early next year, will be "negligible".
"It could be one centavo or a few centavos adjustment," he said.
TransCo has already sent its Notice of Force Majeure Event to the ERC.

[Title] => Philexport urged to shed bias in giving status of power industry
[Summary] =>
The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has urged the Philippine Export Confederation (Philexport), a private sector team tasked to make an action agenda related to power concerns, to remain calm and objective in presenting the status of the electric power industry in the country.
The ERCs advice is relative to Philexports recent claims that, "electricity costs and dwindling generation capacity remain some of the biggest factors that make it harder for people to do business in the Philippines compared to other countries in Asia."

[Title] => DOF asked to review Meralco franchise tax for possible rate reduction
[Summary] => The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has urged the Department of Finance (DOF) to carefully review the franchise tax by the Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) for a possible lowering of power rates for Meralco customers.
In its comment submitted to the DOF, the ERC said the provision of the Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA) states that "a distribution utility shall pay a franchise tax only on its distribution wheeling and captive market supply revenues".
