The NDC Maritime Leasing Corp. (NMLC) expects to bring up its total paid up capital to P1.2 billion by the second quarter of this year, boosting its ability to finance the modernization of the domestic shipping industry.
In an interview with the The STAR, NMLC president and chief executive officer Agustin Bengzon disclosed that the NMLC’s current paid up capital is just P100 million.
However, by next month, the NMLC expects to bring up its capital to P400 million and up to P1.2 billion by the end of the second quarter this year.

While it was quite a lengthy address, let me say it here that it was the first time we've heard a SONA that isn't full of motherhood statements that usually litter the SONAs of presidents past. [Summary] => The national government intends to spend P1 billion to build the country’s nautical highway system this year, Cebu Rep. Eduardo Gullas said.
The amount would be used to complete the remaining links of the Western, Central and Eastern Nautical Highways and strengthen the viability of the entire system, Gullas said.
"The funds will be spent mainly to improve the network of municipal ports and coastal roads that support the nautical highways," he explained.
