                    [Summary] => Moody’s Investors Service has downgraded its rating on CE Casecnan Water and Energy Company, Inc. (CE) from Ba2 to B2, a move that would affect some $288 million of the company’s debt securities. 


Moody’s said the downgrade in CE’s prospects came after the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) decided not to pay the monthly invoice for water and electricity fees that fell due last May 28. 


The invoice amounted to $10.8 million, of which $3.6 million was for the tax compensation portion of the water delivery fee.

                    [Summary] => CABANATUAN CITY — The installation of the country’s first giant underground transbasin tunnel is expected to be completed within this month, an official of the build-operate-transfer (BOT)  contractor of the $580-million Casecnan Multipurpose Irrigation and Power Project (CMIPP) said yesterday.


Robert Eugenio, assistant vice president of the CE Casecnan Water and Energy Company, Inc. (CECWECI) told The STAR that the concrete-lined tunnel, is practically complete and will become operational in March next year barring any unforeseen delays.
