[Title] => Manila bats for organized vending
[Summary] => Manila Mayor Lito Atienza urged other local government units yesterday to organize a vending program in their localities, which he said could substantially contribute to city development.
Atienza made the call yesterday as he inaugurated an organized vending area on P. Guevarra street behind beside Central Market in Sta. Cruz.
"The continuing success of this program affirms our belief that vending is a positive economic force that could contribute substantially to our citys development as long as it is properly organized," Atienza said.

[Title] => Manila off limits to MMDAs vendor drive
[Summary] => The city government of Manila has declared its territory off limits to the sidewalk clearing operations, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said yesterday.
MMDA Chairman Bayani Fernando said yesterday there is nothing the agency can do, stressing he will honor the decision of Manila City Mayor Lito Atienza.
In a radio interview the other day, Atienza made it clear that the MMDA should leave Manila alone in its campaign to clear the sidewalks of the metropolis.
