[Title] => Dog for the gods
[Summary] => I was recently gifted with an 8 month-old male Chihuahua. I do not know the origin of Kenji (the Chihuahua) nor if there is any way for the giver to find out about it. Is there anybody who can tell me if he is pure bred or not? Since he doesn’t have papers is it possible for Kenji to join clubs for dogs? Could he join competitions, if so how & where to go about it? I do hope he could be part of a club so he could meet other pets as like himself. He is quite easy to discipline and seems to be mild mannered. I do hope you can help me.

I have a one-year-old female Mini Pinscher and a newly-acquired nine-month-old Chihuahua. They were introduced to each other a week ago. The two dogs have different personalities. The Mini Pin is playful and energetic. The Chi likes being alone, or being cuddled while watching TV.

Both of them seem to be jealous whenever I give attention to the other. They become territorial when they are near me, which results in aggressiveness between the two.

I own a Rottweiler named Wyle. He’s two years old and he’s a very playful and kind dog. Never bites, never snarls and is never prone to anger or aggression. Lately, I noticed that he has dandruff, especially on his head. It’s not severe, neither is it moderate. But I would hate to see it progress into something worse. He’s a very beautiful dog, with shiny, short, black hair. That’s why I want to do something about it and fast!

My dog has mange [Summary] => Q. I have a Golden Retriever that turned two last July. Her name is Walnut. I bought her when she was 4 months old and at that time, the breeder said she had some skin infection around the mouth. She gave me medicine for it and recommended a vet. I took Walnut home and treated the skin infection. The recommended vet came and looked at it also. It got better and was completely gone.

I am a proud owner of a 13-month old male Sharpei, Magoo. I won him when he was five months old in a raffle during Vet Week last February at UPLB. He is registered with the PCCI. However, when I got Magoo, his eyelids were "inside out" or he had entropion. He had an operation last July to correct it. His vaccinations are also up-to-date.

Our next door neighbor breeds imported dogs in his garage. I’ve never been fond of animals. I cannot stand the smell of dog urine and the incessant barking from his kennel. Isn’t my neighbor being inconsiderate? Is it OK if I ask him to relocate his kennel to a non-residential area? How can he keep his kennel from stinking? - Edna

Despite my illness, I am able to move about easily and do household chores. In fact, I am still able to earn a living without leaving the house, mainly by writing articles and press releases for two big PR agencies in Makati.
