HONG KONG — Almost but not enough for RP-Air21.

RP-Air 21 did its best but still fell short against defending champion Hong Kong, 76-83, in their semifinal encounter in the 2006 Eastcoliingt-Super Kung Sheung Cup international invitational basketball championship at the Hong Kong Coliseum.

The loss — the second in four matches — relegated the Basketball Association of the Philippines-supported RP-Air21 team to the battle for third place against CBA champion Winnerway of China.

Minus their top gun in Ritualo whom the team shipped out to Talk n Text, the Express face an even tougher challenge as they try to make it to the top five for an outright seat in the quarterfinals.

Air21 has lost four of its last five games and is running eighth in the field with a 4-8 win-loss card.
