[Summary] => LUCENA CITY This city and Calapan City in Oriental Mindoro are now both under a state of calamity after flash floods triggered by continuous heavy rains since Monday night swept through majority of their barangays.
In this city, floodwaters have washed away at least 10 houses and forced 13,000 residents of 14 barangays to evacuate.
City Mayor Ramon Talaga told The STAR in a phone interview that the city council, in declaring the state of calamity, approved the initial release of P2 million for the purchase of food, clothing and medicines for the evacuees.
