GENERAL SANTOS CITY -- A Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) memorandum circular,
growers of long-gestating crops, including fruit and timber tree species, are
now entitled to a longer grace period for repaying loans used to finance these
projects.
Under the new guidelines, banks and guarantee institutions are allowed to
extend loans and guarantees with a grace period of up to seven years to viable,
long-gestating agriculture and fisheries projects.
BSP Rafael Buenaventura signed Circular 217 last November.
