When members of the local motoring press were first introduced to BMW’s new 5 Series (known at BMW as the F10) a few months back, we were given the express permission to abuse and push a couple of units – within reason, of course – at the Batangas Racing Circuit.

Much has been said about BMW being the pioneer in sports sedans. Equally generous ink has been spewed praising the company’s legendary inline-6 engines.

The young man barking out these words was JP Tuason. The son of the late racing legend Arthur Tuason had reason to be very imposing for he was supervising the test drive of the all new Goodyear Eagle F1 that Saturday afternoon at the Le Pavilion grounds near the Macapagal Highway in Pasay City. He was personally in charge of the half dozen or so Eagle F1-shod brand new BMW 3-series sport sedans that they used as test cars for the tire’s launch.
