The Supreme Court (SC) has affirmed its ruling allowing the Manila regional trial court (RTC) to proceed with the trial of former Bayan Muna party-list congressman Saturnino Ocampo and three officials of the Communist Party of the Philippines-National Democratic Front (CPP-NDF) for multiple murder in connection with the mass graves discovered by the Philippine Army in Leyte in 2006.

He said communist rebels are "planning how I can be assassinated. That is true, our assets told me I should not joke about these things."

"The court can interpret his flight (as) an indication of guilt," PNP spokesman Chief Superintendent Samuel Pagdilao Jr. said after Ocampo failed to keep his promise to surrender either last Sunday or yesterday.

The PNP announced earlier that all units have intensified the manhunt for Ocampo.
