One hundred sixteen years ago, a small bunch of Katipuneros led by Pantaleon "Leon Kilat" Villegas who hailed from Bacong, Negros Oriental bearing a letter from the Katipunan leadership convinced many Cebuanos that the time had come to rise up against the Spaniards that has ruled our land for four hundred years. The call for revolution became stronger after the execution of Dr. Jose Rizal in Bagumbayan on Dec. 30, 1896.
