Those planning to protest in front of the Senate tomorrow for the start of Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial will be met with up to 6,000 police officers, according to the National Capital Region Police Office.

The Senate impeachment court cannot keep in its custody the sealed green box containing the tax records of Vice President Sara Duterte and her husband Manases Carpio and has decided to return it to the House of Representatives prosecution panel, Sen. Panfilo Lacson said yesterday.

The Senate impeachment court has summoned Vice President Sara Duterte to appear at the July 6 start of trial, either in person or through her counsel.

Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian maintained that he should still preside over the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.

The Philippine National Police will deploy 6,000 officers around the Senate when the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte opens Monday, July 6.
