[Title] => Dominican fathers get in the music biz
[Summary] => I do not recall if the Augustinians, who were very active in the propagation of church music many, many years ago, have released their share of music albums. The Jesuits though have been very, very active and thanks to the likes of Fr. Honti and Fr. Manoling and other talents, seem to be the dominant force in the music ministry of the Catholic Church in the Philippines today. But wait, a new rival has entered the arena and as they used to say in olden times, when the Jesuits are around, can the Dominicans be far behind?

[Summary] => What happens when seven priests gather together? They won’t be able to resist the temptation of forming a band!

Four years ago, a group of seven Dominicans did just that. After watching a live band perform, two priests – founding fathers of the band so to speak – realized they could do the same.

"One by one, we gathered the members who we knew from our seminary days to have a knack for music," recalled Fr. Deng and Dr. Nap.

Although both Freeverse and Freestyle dish out the same brand of groove-inducing barroom staples, Freeverse had its headstart as early as 1995, when they did the front act for Side A’s Forevermore campus tour.

Because of the good crowd response, they were soon prodded to audition for Music Hall, where they eventually made their name as another formidable crowd-drawer in the live performance arena.
