                    [Summary] =>

My first glimpse of the iconic image of Gene Kelly singing and dancing in the rain happened with That’s Entertainment, the documentary put together by MGM, made up of scenes from the Hollywood studio’s famous musicals.

She sings the old songs I like to sing and she does it in lots of beautiful, surprising ways. Of course, lots and lots better too. Sometimes I think she even sounds better than the original. If she doesn’t, you just have to realize that not even the gifted Stacey can always put one over the likes of Ella or Sarah and their ilk. At the very least, she still makes the songs sound new and different. [DatePublished] => 2004-05-17 00:00:00 [ColumnID] => 135672 [Focus] => 0 [AuthorID] => 1804842 [AuthorName] => Baby A. One was Manhattan Tower by Gordon Jenkins. A homage to New York City, it was an original recorded musical which pioneered an idea later very effectively put use by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice for Jesus Christ Superstar. Record the musical first. Then do the stage version. [DatePublished] => 2002-10-21 00:00:00 [ColumnID] => 135672 [Focus] => 0 [AuthorID] => 1804842 [AuthorName] => Baby A.
