Two convicted rapists are set to die by lethal injection before the Holy Week, a source at the Bureau of Corrections said yesterday.

The source said Esteban Victor will be executed on March 29, while Gregorio Pagupat will be put to death on April 5.

Their deaths will bring to nine the total number of convicts executed since capital punishment was restored in January 1994.

The convictions of Victor and Pagupat were affirmed by the Supreme Court in 1998. Both were convicted of raping their teenage stepdaughters.
