Padel Pilipinas hari sa Asia-Pacific

MANILA, Philippines — Matagumpay na nadepensahan ng Padel Pilipinas ang korona nito sa professional division ng Asia Pacific Padel Cup (APPC) 2026 na ginanap sa Play Padel McKinley West sa Taguig City.

Naitarak ng Pinoy squad ang 3-0 sweep sa men’s, women’s, at mixed categories laban sa matitikas na tropa sa rehiyon.

Pinangunahan nina LA Cañizares at Jason Tamayo ang ratsada ng Padel Pilipinas nang pataubin ng dalawa sina Abdullah Adnan at Muhammad Salar ng Prescott Development Team-Pakistan, 6-3, 6-3, sa men’s division.

Wagi rin sina Marian Capadocia at Joanna Tao Yee Tan kina Aqsa Khalid at Sheeza Sajid sa women’s doubles.

Muling rumatsada si Capadocia kasama si Tamayo para makuha ang panalo sa mixed doubles.

Dahil sa panalo, napanatili ng Padel Pilipinas ang korona sa pro division habang nagkasya sa runner-up ang Prescott Development Team.

Nakamit ng Ace Padel India ang third place matapos magsumite ng 2-1 panalo sa  PadThai Padel Thailand.

Nakakuha rin sina Tamayo at Tao Yee Tan ng male at female Most Valuable Players (MVP) sa event na inorganisa ng Asia Pacific Padel Tour at Padel Pilipinas na national sports association na kinikilala ng Philippine Sports Commission at Philippine Olympic Committee at pinamumunuan nina president Jeff Cheng at founder Senator Pia Cayetano.

“Being a young sport, the idea is to promote it and get more people to participate, and I think it’s about building the entire ecosystem by first having the right coaches. By having the right coaches, we build the right foundation for the players,” ani Cheng.

Bukod sa elite pro, nag­sagawa rin ang Padel Pilipinas ng amateur division kung saan naghari ang GoPadel-Taiwan matapos talunin ang Prescott Deve­lopment Team, 2-1.

Sa pagkakataong ito, nagkasya ang Team Philippines sa third place matapos patumbahin ang South Korea, 3-0, sa battle-for-third.
