Go pulls away; Lee leads by four

BAGUIO, Philippines – Lloyd Go shot the day’s only under-par round, a five-under 67, to take a nine-stroke lead after two rounds of the ICTSI Pinewoods Challenge yesterday at Pinewoods Golf and Country Club.
After fog delays marred Tuesday’s opening round, strong winds replaced the mists and sent scores soaring. Go was the exception.
The Cebuano made six birdies in a nine-hole stretch from No. 3, offsetting bogeys on Nos. 2 and 16 for a 32-35 card. He stands at 13-under 131, nine ahead of Jeffren Lumbo. Go opened with a 64 on Tuesday despite no prior competitive experience on the course.
In the women’s play, Tiffany Lee shot one-over 73 to lead by four over Harmie Constantino.
Lee is at 2-under 142 through 36 holes of the P1 million event.
“The wind was definitely the game-changer,” said Lee, 17. “I just tried to keep it low – lower than yesterday – and stay grounded putting because of the hard wind.”
Lee had four birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey on No. 5.
