MANILA, Philippines — After 14 grueling stages, the MPTC Tour of Luzon 2026 ended in Baguio with one clear message: It’s coming back.

“See you all in 2027,” MPTC Tour of Luzon CEO Arrey Perez announced Wednesday night at Camp John Hay, confirming a third edition of the country’s biggest cycling race. “And it will be bigger and better.”

What’s next for 2027: 17 stages, up from 14, with new stops in Bicol and Quezon.

Baguio stays though as the finale, honoring Mayor Benjie Magalong’s request to keep the mountaintop finish.

Visayas expansion is on the horizon, if not in 2027 then “in the near future,” said PSC chairman Patrick Gregorio.

Perez urged partners to get on board: “Join and help me convince our sponsors to make this another success.”

Filipino riders are gaining ground.

Foreign cyclists dominated the 2026 podium, but 23-year-old Nash Lim of Metro Pacific Tollways Drive Hub gave local fans reason to cheer. He finished fourth overall and emerged as the top Filipino rider.

“I’ve learned a lot in this race and I hope to win the Tour also in the future,” said Lim, a national team member.

Gregorio took notice. “His name had come up. That’s why we should think deeper on how we can help our young athletes like him more.”

The 2026 Tour may have been “brutal but successful.” For 2027, the bar is higher – more stages, new roads, and a sharper focus on homegrown talent.
