Creamline dominates Cignal to close in on 11th PVL crown

MANILA, Philippines — Time and again, the Creamline Cool Smashers have proven that their Premier Volleyball League reign of terror isn’t ending anytime soon.
This one Tuesday night validated it as Creamline overpowered Cignal when no one expected it, 25-22, 25-18, 25-16, in Game 1 of the PVL All-Filipino Conference finals at the Smart Araneta Coliseum to move on the verge of claiming a league-record 11th crown.
The ice cream franchise rode on its vast championship experience — 15 finals appearance in all — in utterly dominating a Manny V. Pangilinan-owned club desperately eyeing to end its title drought.
If and when the Cool Smashers end up wrapping it all up in Game 2 Thursday at the Big Dome, it will catapult them back to their old place on top and end a two-year title drought.
A decider, if necessary, is set next week at the same Cubao venue.
Interestingly, Creamline’s last title came at the expense of the same squad in Cignal in the Invitational that went the full, three-game route.
